Talk About Confidence-Boosting

Sun Dec 6, 2009, 2:09 PM
Seeing as it's been over half a year since I wrote a new one of these things...Might as well.
I have and haven't been getting a lot of work done. I've written two short stories, true, for my fiction class. My professor gave me one of the best complimnets I've ever gotten--called me a "virtuoso"--a master of my craft. It's really hard to stop my head from floating up to the ceiling after something like that. Plus over the summer I got some fantastic comments on my poetry from Jack Ridl. So all-in-all, it's starting to feel like this whole writing this might actually work out for me!
On the other hand, being in college and having more credit hours than I'm supposed to I have virtually no time to do anything (Though I do things anyway, and pay the price later) so I feel like my writing-mind is getting angry at having to write essays instead of fiction. Well, specifically my American Lit research paper. What it really wants to do is start that short story about the lady with the meat-tenderizer. Angry lady + big metal spiky hammer = lots of fun.
Anyway, I'll have the revised "Allison" up soon, along with some non-fiction papers. Hopefully I'll be able to crank somthing out over Christmas break. I've been reading "Fragile Things" a collection of short stories by Neil Gaiman, and it's got me all fired up to get back to fantasy.
So much to do, so little time...This is the problem with finals...

I went a little nuts this morning. I started on a new map of Atropia today too. A pretty one, instead of the sketchy thing I have now.
